Little Girls!

These girls, Julianne and Lauren, belong to my long-time friend, Lisa. They both have totally different personalities (but both are exactly like Lisa… how does that happen?!) In any case, I enjoyed taking some summertime shots of the girls (and a few with their mom). Thanks, Ladies! I had fun!

Here are the highlights!

Anne & Tom’s Wedding at Hidden Meadows

This was, quite possibly, the most perfect wedding day! It was gorgeous and sunny–not too hot, not too cold, and ended with a good old-fashioned summer rain shower after the dancing started. The perfect Washington day!

Anne and Tom tied the knot at Hidden Meadows in Snohomish. I had the wonderful Sarah Alston as my right-hand photographer. She literally saved the day as my main camera gear went belly-up, not five minutes before the wedding ceremony started. She took charge, while I grabbed my back-up equipment (thank heavens I always carry back-ups of everything, ready to go at a moment’s notice). Not only that, but she had a great angle for getting the amazing shots of the dancing later in the evening. I love her style and working with her is a real pleasure.

Anne and Tom were sooooo easy to pose; they did everything we suggested, and we even talked them into taking shots on the train tracks. Score! Not only that but they had the best “first dance” I’ve ever seen - a full-on tango, which was like watching “Dancing With the Stars” live! They’d practiced, in secret, for quite a while, and had told no one of their first dance ensemble beforehand. It was outstanding! Anne’s gown was incredible, and Tom looked absolutely dapper himself. Just an all-around fabulous and beautiful couple. We were honored to share their day with them. :-)

All in all, it was a fabulous wedding (despite the gear failure!) and here are some highlights of our shots. Again, special thanks to Sarah Alston for her expertise!

Enjoy!

Adam & Kim’s Wedding at Semiahmoo Resort

Remember the fabulous engagement session with Adam and Kim? It was honestly hard to take a bad photo of them, particularly since the places we picked out (Discovery Park, Alki Beach, and on their boat in Meydenbauer Bay) made for spectacular backdrops.

Well, their wedding day was even more spectacular, with the nuptials being held on a grassy knoll, on a gorgeous, sunny day at Semiahmoo Resort, overlooking the glistening Semiahmoo Bay, with White Rock, BC across the way. One word: spectacular.

Kim and Adam had planned everything to the tiniest detail and boy, was it classy. Kim wore a gorgeous Luly Yang dress, and Adam looked as dapper as a man could possibly be. And, since we all share a very close friend (Hi, Jeanne!), it was great to be able to photograph such an amazing day, of two wonderful people, who weren’t strangers. Rick and I felt really blessed to be the designated photographers, and the ceremony, toasts, dances, and so on, were all very touching. You could tell there’s a lotta love in both families and amongst their friends.

As usual, our favorite shots aren’t always the obvious ones, but the little unexpected moments that we captured throughout the day. Hope you enjoy them! Thanks, Adam and Kim, for being such a marvelous couple!

The Essence of Four.

My nephew, Colson, will be turning 4 this month. FOUR! I can’t believe it. I remember taking his 8-hour-old newborn photos at home and being so overwhelmed by his tiny hands and feet. He is just as precious now as he was then (albeit a bit more active!)

The other night, Colson and his parents came over so that we could take Colson’s 4-year portraits. At that time, they announced that Colson was going to be a big brother in March!

Eeeeeeeeeee! I love being an aunt! And Colson is going to be the best big brother ever. I can’t wait for his sibling to come along and grace our family with his or her presence. Colson (and the new one) is blessed with a fabulous family — couldn’t ask for a better set of parents!

Here are some highlights from the photo session with Colson! He’s the absolute essence of four!
