The Blue Lotus Dance Studio Grand Opening!

Nalini, one of Seattle’s great dancers, opened a brand-new dance space in a studio connected to the Tully’s building in Georgetown (the old Rainier Brewery). It’s bright with high-ceilings and city views and many folks from Seattle’s dance community came to welcome the new studio, as well as to watch performances by Nalini’s students and other established dancers.

Here are some highlights from the evening!

Sayeh (Sonya) and Steve!

Sonya and Steve got married a couple of months ago at the Lake Union Cafe on East Lake Union in Seattle. I had the pleasure of doing their engagement photos and their wedding both. What a wonderful couple!

During their wedding day, they decided not to take time out from their party to go off and get photos taken, but instead, to have an “After Wedding” session.

Rick and I had such a great time with them on the After-Wedding session. We went to several locations around the Seattle area for our shoot: Volunteer Park on Capitol Hill, Kerry Park on Queen Anne Hill, and Greenlake.

Here are some of our favorite shots from that session!

~Adam & Kim~

This week’s engagement shoot was just spectacular!

First of all, Kim is a friend of a friend, so we already knew each other a little bit, and I’d met Adam already, both of which made things go smoother. Her and I are both detail-oriented (okay, anal-retentive) so we had the whole shoot planned out in advance—me with the techie stuff, and her with her hair, makeup, multiple outfits, locations, times, and so on.

To start, we hit Discovery Park in Seattle (where they got engaged), which is one of my all-time favorite spots in Seattle. We spend an hour-and-a-half shooting there, and at one point, we even illegally parked, in order to get “the shot” at the spot where they got engaged, with the lighthouse in the background. (Good fun!) After that, we drove across Lake Washington to Bellevue and went on their sailboat in Meydenbauer Bay and ate fish tacos. All that shooting made us hungry! Finally, we booked it back to Seattle to catch a lovely sunset at Alki Beach.

Here are some of my favorite shots from this photo session. Adam and Kim are a fun-loving couple who are not afraid to be in front of the camera, which makes our job easy! Rick and I cannot wait to shoot their wedding in six weeks at Semiahmoo Resort just south of the border (the Canadian border, that is) in Blaine, WA. Looking forward to the big day!
