Lis & Jeff’s Beach Wedding!

When you decide to get married outdoors in Seattle, you have to be prepared for any type of weather. While Lis and Jeff’s Golden Gardens wedding was overcast (and, um, not so “golden”), the sun managed to shine through on their reception, held at the Carkeek Park conservation center.

This wedding was extremely SIMPLE, from beginning to end. Barefoot on the beach, and relaxing in the woods. I love these kind of laid-back, let’s-just-enjoy-this-moment events.

And to say that they love each other is clearly an understatement. They are mad about each other, and I could not be happier for their nuptials!

Here are some highlights from the day!

Elizabeth and Ryan’s San Juan Island Wedding!

RIck and I were thrilled to be Elizabeth and Ryan’s wedding photographers. They flew in from Massachusetts for a private destination wedding. They decided on a tiny family-only ceremony at South Beach on San Juan Island with a reception at the Palindaba Lavender Farm. What a spectacular day! The weather couldn’t have been better, the love couldn’t have been more apparent, and the scenery couldn’t have been more “Pacific Northwest”. We enjoyed this wedding immensely, not the least of which were the wonderful people we met there, including the fantastic bride and groom who we’d not met before they flew in.

As always, we present a gallery of selected images from the day. Enjoy!

Sneak Peak: Elizabeth & Ryan’s Island Wedding

Just a couple of photos of the very dreamy San Juan Island wedding of Elizabeth and Ryan, who flew in from Massachussets to get married.

A full wedding blog coming soon!

Rebecca & Scott’s Seattle Wedding!

I love my job. And it’s couples like Rebecca and Scott that make me love my job even more. They are fun, sincere, and really love each other. There was so much joy on their big day!

They met each other at a photography meetup, so they are both into photography, too. You might remember they used vintage cameras in their engagement shoot. At their wedding, they had their friend Danny go around and take Polaroid photos of all of the guests. They got some great shots from what I could tell. Good fun!

The wedding was held at a church on Greenlake, which just happens to be a fabulous place to take wedding photos. What a gorgeous day (chilly but gorgeous). After that, they had an old Bentley (with driver) take them down to their reception at the fabulous Blue Ribbon Cooking School - a great venue next to the Lake Union houseboats - a perfect locale for a sit-down dinner party.

And would you just LOOK at how happy they are!! Sigh. They are just such an amazing couple and I’m honored to have been the one to document the day for them. It was beautiful from beginning to end.

Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Mongrain! :-) Here are my favorite photos from the day. And I almost forgot to note that the absolutely FABULOUS Kristel Wyman of Vancouver, BC, came down from Canada to shoot this event with me. I could not have done so well without her. She is a fabulous partner!

And now, they are on to the “living happily ever after” part.

Melissa & Brian’s Wedding at Clise Mansion!

This was not only the first wedding of the season this year, but a lovely morning wedding! (Most weddings are in the afternoon or evening.) I really adored working with this couple and their three children. You will see (most notably during “the kiss”) that their youngest had some issues during the ceremony (fell down and cut herself) so ended up being part of the ceremony. Aside from her getting hurt, it was the cutest thing ever.

Thanks to Kristel Wyman, who came all the way from Vancouver, BC to assist me with this wedding. Here are some of the highlights of the day!

Sneak Peak: Rebecca & Scott!

While I process their wedding photos, I wanted to give a sneak peak at the photos from Rebecca and Scott’s wedding a couple of weeks ago. They just returned from a fabulous honeymoon in France, Belgium, and the Netherlands, and they have a zillion photos to go through, but I thought I’d add a couple more.

I just think they are the bee’s knees. Check them out!

A longer blog to follow!

Alex and Rachel tie the knot!

Alex and Rachel flew in from Berlin, Germany to have their wedding in the Seattle area. I met them a couple of months ago when they were here for a short visit, to do their engagement session. Since most of Rachel’s family lives here, this is where they decided to tie the knot. They got married at Faith Presbyterian Church in Tacoma, where I’ve shot a few times in the last few years. It’s always nice to see folks from previous weddings!

Here are some of my favorite photos that we took on their big day!

The Marriage of Rick & Kirsty.

Rick and Kirsty were married at One Devonshire Gardens in Glasgow, Scotland on a Thursday afternoon in September. (The day after my birthday, I might add, and they spent the entire evening before their wedding day treating me to a really splendid night out on the town!)

The wedding and reception were in the same location so we stayed there for all of the photos. One Devonshire Gardens is a swanky hotel (apparently, Beyonce had stayed there the night before) and the service was outstanding. We utlized several areas of the hotel for our photo session, and I took shots of Kirsty getting ready in the suite that her and Rick had in the hotel itself.

The ceremony was short, but very touching, and I found myself getting very emotional. It was a good thing that I could hide behind my lens!

Here are my favorite images from their wedding day. Congratulations again, Mr. and Mrs. Wright!

~Josh & Annie’s Edmonds Wedding~

Josh and Annie got married at Annie’s family church in Edmonds/Lynnwood area. The reception was held at the Edmonds Public Library with a great view of the Puget Sound! We also took photos of them on the beach at the Brackets Landing South Park on the Edmonds Waterfront. My fabulous second-shooter was Sarah Alston whose photos are also portrayed in this blog. Thanks to Sarah for such great assistance!

And congratulations to Annie and Josh on their marriage! Their wedding was beautiful, Annie was a sweetheart, and Josh (as you can tell from these photos) could absolutely not take his eyes off of Annie the entire day! What a lovely affair, and I’m honored to have been there to witness (and record) it!

Here are my favorite highlights from the Big Day!

Anne & Tom’s Wedding at Hidden Meadows

This was, quite possibly, the most perfect wedding day! It was gorgeous and sunny–not too hot, not too cold, and ended with a good old-fashioned summer rain shower after the dancing started. The perfect Washington day!

Anne and Tom tied the knot at Hidden Meadows in Snohomish. I had the wonderful Sarah Alston as my right-hand photographer. She literally saved the day as my main camera gear went belly-up, not five minutes before the wedding ceremony started. She took charge, while I grabbed my back-up equipment (thank heavens I always carry back-ups of everything, ready to go at a moment’s notice). Not only that, but she had a great angle for getting the amazing shots of the dancing later in the evening. I love her style and working with her is a real pleasure.

Anne and Tom were sooooo easy to pose; they did everything we suggested, and we even talked them into taking shots on the train tracks. Score! Not only that but they had the best “first dance” I’ve ever seen - a full-on tango, which was like watching “Dancing With the Stars” live! They’d practiced, in secret, for quite a while, and had told no one of their first dance ensemble beforehand. It was outstanding! Anne’s gown was incredible, and Tom looked absolutely dapper himself. Just an all-around fabulous and beautiful couple. We were honored to share their day with them. :-)

All in all, it was a fabulous wedding (despite the gear failure!) and here are some highlights of our shots. Again, special thanks to Sarah Alston for her expertise!

Enjoy!
