Fleurs d’Egypte Dance Cabaret!

One of our favorite dance cabarets “Fleurs d’Egypte” needed a photographer this month, and I was happy to oblige! I love photographing them, and admiring the costumes and beauty of these ladies. Beyond the beauty, these ladies are also smart, resourceful, and friendly. A lovely group!

Our shoot started at Seattle’s Century Ballroom which was fabulous for capturing them surrounded by that old-world charm. We then moved across the street to Cal Anderson Park, and then finally finished the shoot a couple of miles away at Volunteer Park. The ladies were fabulous and didn’t complain much as they had to stand outside in the cold while we got the best shots. I had the wonderful Eric Denson assisting me that day!

Here are some highlights from that day!

The Amazing Lisa Yasmeen!

Seattle bellydancer, Lisa Yasmeen, is an adventurous soul. She is an architect by trade and a dancer in her creative hours. She’s wicked smart (as well as drop-dead gorgeous). We’d planned this shoot early in the summer, as she wanted to do a beach shoot at sunset. She also needed to change on the beach. This requires a little finnagling with equipment, sheet tent, and so on, so I enlisted Rick’s help. He also shot some of these images, as well as set up a giant golden reflector to give the great golden tones that her skin soaked up!

We had a great time with Lisa and she’s the perfect model, knowing exactly how to pose herself, and going along with all of our artistic ideas above and beyond her own ideas which she brought to the table. We had to postpone this shoot due to rain (and Jackie’s wedding schedule!) but when we finally did it, the weather was perfect.

Good luck with your dancing, Lisa!

Troupe Hipnotica!

Once again, Rick and I had the pleasure of photographing this wonderful group of ladies - Seattle’s very own Troupe Hipnotica. They picked a location in Georgetown where they had danced at a recent art festival, and it proved to be a perfect location for the look-and-feel they were going for.

There are nine gorgeous women in this dance troupe, and we tried to capture each one individually, as well as collectively in all of the group shots that we took. Not only are they mad-talented as dancers, and totally drop-dead gorgeous to boot, but they have also designed their own dance apparel! The last shot in this post was taken of them in their dance wear.

Here are some highlights and some of our personal favorites!

The Blue Lotus Dance Studio Grand Opening!

Nalini, one of Seattle’s great dancers, opened a brand-new dance space in a studio connected to the Tully’s building in Georgetown (the old Rainier Brewery). It’s bright with high-ceilings and city views and many folks from Seattle’s dance community came to welcome the new studio, as well as to watch performances by Nalini’s students and other established dancers.

Here are some highlights from the evening!

Bellydancing Beauty, Lisa Mandin!

Lisa Mandin is a gorgeous dancer in the Seattle bellydance circuit. She came to me via Rebecca (remember that gorgeous brunette I blogged about a couple of months ago?!) and we had a great session.

I enjoy photographing the female form, and beauty in colors and costumes. It is a true delight to be a favorite photographer among many Seattle bellydance superstars. I am in awe of their grace, their beauty, and their entertaining characters. And Lisa was no exception; she was absolutely delightful to work with.

Here are a few shots from our recent session. Enjoy!

Imei - Seattle Bellydancer Extraordinaire!

This was a wonderful shoot, even after a rough start. The studio wasn’t fully up and running and Imei and I had mixed up our schedules, but she was wonderful, patient, and a modeling superstar! The shoot consisted of five different costumes, and took about three hours total. Imei was a great sport, trying all kinds of moves and poses, and together, we created a great portfolio of dance shots for her!

Delightful Ava!

I had the pleasure of working with Seattle bellydancer, Ava, on a project combining both the bellydance aspect of her talent with a stark pinup flare. And let me tell you, she has the look for it! Her wonderful husband, Zach, held lights for us while we utilized just about every inch of the room at Hotel Monaco, downtown Seattle.
